Can you trust the Bible?

  • What do you tell your friends and family who say, “I don’t believe the Bible, it was written by men.”
  • What do you tell someone who says “the Bible is just a collection of myths and fables.”
  • What about the person who says, “you can’t prove the Bible is true.”
  • What what do you say to your college professors who poo-pooh the Bible as irrelevant, uninspired, and a crutch for the weak minded?

What will this study do?

  • This study will help you grow to be much stronger in your faith.
  • It will give you the confidence you need to help confront these errors and bring others to the truth.

Join us on this 4 Week Study of this wonderful book on Grace and Truth.  Imitating Jesus is never easy, but it doesn’t have to be complicated if you use Randy Alcorn’s “two-point checklist” derived from John 1:14. In The Grace and Truth Paradox he offers this simple checklist for Christlikeness. The test consists of balancing grace and truth, equally and unapologetically. Grace without truth deceives people, and ceases to be grace. Truth without grace crushes people, and ceases to be truth. Alcorn shows the reader how to show the world Jesus – offering grace instead of the world’s apathy and tolerance, offering truth instead of the world’s relativism and deception.

From the authors of Vintage Jesus comes an wonderful work elaborating the 13 teachings they say every Christian should believe. Driscoll, a controversial pastor for his often brash teaching, and Breshears, professor of theology at Western Seminary, combine for this book that describes the heart of Christian truth claims or doctrines. The pair attempt—and accomplish—vigorous interaction with biblical texts, systematic doctrine, culture, and flawed thinking; they directly address the reader, urging repentance and faith. Drawing on orthodox Reformed and Protestant theology, the book moves from God, stays on God, and ends with God. The book is organized around the actions of God: God is, speaks, makes, loves, judges, pursues, comes, dies, saves, sends, transforms, gives, reigns.
