I had received so many questions about whether Jesus was really God in the past few weeks that I had to speak to the issue. Also I wanted to teach everyone how to study the Bible in a logical methodical and understandable manner. So I chose to teach about whether Jesus was the Christ in the Gospel of John. This also covers His deity. This was taught on May 4, 2008 in our GAP (Graduates and Professionals) Bible Study Group. I taught it at a blistering pace so download the notes and follow along. There was a great dealt to cover in a short period of time.
The introduction of the lesson is partly cut off, but I am introducing and recommending a book. Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell is a wonderful reference for these type of issues. Is the Bible reliable? Can we believe that Jesus was God? Is there proof of the resurrection. This book is worth having in your library. It is a great reference guide and study. “It is a tool for locating supporting “evidence” whenever the need arises. Part I addresses the trustworthiness of the Bible; Part II offers historical evidence and supporting attestations for Jesus’ claim to God; Part III addresses “radical Christian criticism” of the Bible; Part IV is devoted to quelling the voice of numerous skeptics, including “a defense for the existence of miracles” and “answers to divergent worldview.”
